With a new year brings new goals, wishes, aspirations. Before setting anything it may be worth reading the following wise words (from those who have written about the All Blacks rugby team- see Legacy by James Kerr):

  • Setting a standard – more than just a CEng:           ‘Judge yourself against the world’s best – without question‘ Sean Fitzpatrick

Picking an area of specialism and identifying ‘world class performance’ in itself is quiet illuminating. Attempting to build the required  level of competence even more so.

  • Commitment  –  How far/high do you want to go?

Champions do extra – there are no crowds lining the extra mile. On the extra mile, we’re on our own: just us and the road, just us and  a blank sheet of paper, just us and the challenge we’ve set ourselves. It’s the work we do behind closed doors that makes the    difference out on the field of play, in whichever field we compete, whether we’re in a team, leading a business or just leading our lives.
