Overview

SmartEngineer revolutionises professional development for engineers and has achieved a 95% pass rate at the ICE Chartered Professional Review. It focuses on improving performance not only at the Review but also in everyday work.

Its concept is based on two key principles: firstly, that behaviours drive performance, and secondly that business techniques can help engineers analyse, understand and communicate better. The key benefits to this approach are:

  • improved pass rate at CPR
  • less wasted time in preparing for the Review
  • better decision-making and performance in the workplace

Smart professional development unlocks potential which not only benefits the individual but also the employer. It develops the ability to think and behave like a professional. By harnessing these skills, engineers will not only find the Review day straightforward, but they will also be much better prepared and confident to take advantage of the opportunities that qualification offers.

Building on the SmartEngineer approach – the SmartEngineer programme has 2 areas of focus which are as follows:

Image 2 – introduces the SmartEngineer approach and key concepts to ensure graduate engineers understand what is important during IPD and where they should focus and put additional effort.
Image 3 – provides graduates with knowledge and skills to ensure they effectively tackle the their Review in the most efficient & effective manner

My career path goes a long way to explain how I have managed to create a new approach to Professional Development….

I understand the effort required to qualify as a Chartered Engineer
I have experience of supporting others & organisations to prepare for the Review
I have worked with Professional qualifications from ‘behind the curtain’
I have seen how the business world educates its future leaders and operates

I have combined all these elements to create SmartEngineer which provides specific advice and training packages to fit with the development stage of graduate engineers.
